LUCID

Descending from the Forefathers of our country, and native to the state of North Carolina, the all American Indian Alternative
Rock Band, Lucid. Born, raised, and based in Robeson County, Lucid has been healing crowds of their musical hunger with live
performances that bring a truly illusive tribal experience to all. Lucid has appeared in live performances in cities such as
Fayetteville, Greenville, and Raleigh, North Carolina, and also in Rock Hill and Myrtle Beach of South Carolina.
Why the band started:
There are so many reasons why bands form. Of course, all bands have the ultimate goal of obtaining financial backing (aka, getting
signed by a major record label). But this is a long term goal. For Lucid, most of the members were already good friends before the
band formed. So, it only made snese to give it a shot. We always said that regardless of what happened, our friendship would remain
the number one priority. In turn, we've begun to create vast musical landscapes. (Cody E.H. Godwin)
Overcoming obstacles:
Probably the greatest obstacle we're trying to overcome is not to lose sight of the "big picture" and why we started the band in
the first place. We all have our separate personal lives. And what we have to keep reminding ourselves is that we are five totally
different personalities that come from various musical backgrounds. To create what we think is viable music is a feat
within itself. (Cody E.H. Godwin)
Another obstacle we've had to overcome is realizing that you can't please everyone's musical tastes. We exist in an area where
there are a lot of "cookie-cutter" bands who are in this business for all the wrong reasons. This in itself becomes an obstacle
for Lucid, club owners, and promoters. Since there is already a lot of rejection in this business, we've had to separate
ourselves from this negativity. What we have now at our shows, is the audience actually listening to what we say and play.
To see everyone actually "get it" and see their eyes totally feeling what we are feeling on stage is great. (Cody E.H. Godwin)
Qoute from Manager:
"I was out on night at Jesters Pub in Fayetteville, NC, and I was simply blown away by the charisma and emotion that Lucid
inspired when they took the stage. To be straight forward, their music is due a far different scene than that of the
Fayetteville area. Fayetteville is well known on the street for being a place to find volatile metal bands, but Lucid
sets a different tone. From beginning to end, their show is a fluid, tribal, illusive, and yet an explosive experience.
The musicianship in the band is outstanding. Never have I had the opportunity to work with such a talented group of
individuals. They work together with such chemistry that the heights they reach could be limitless." - Leslie Thompson
Future goals:
"Possibly the greatest goal that we have, short term and long term, is for our music to have some sense of vitality and
uniqueness on the music scene. Music is truly a universal language and there are so many bands out there creating music for all
sorts of reasons. As long as we are a band and we still have the need to create, then music will always be our emotional
and creative outlet." (Cody E.H. Godwin)
